101st Birthday

Weddings are of course full of joyous romance, but I find it’s often in the finer details that bring my clients the most meaningful photographs.

The details of the people, the stories they have.

It’s about the specifics.

Such as Alice’s Grandma, who celebrated her one-hundred-and-first birthday, a few days before attending her wedding.

Which was such a beautiful thing to see.

Yet if you peek at a wedding magazine or blog, you’d get a very different impression about a modern day wedding.

You might get the impression that the decorations are the most significant thing.

Or the designer clothes.

If not that, you must make sure you tick off the one-hundred-top-things-to-do-for-your-wedding-planning. Yikes!

No thank you.

I won’t deny that I’ve seen some beautiful details over the years, which absolutely add a personal and significant touch.

But they have to be a little further down the list.

Otherwise everything becomes too formulaic.

As if your own life becomes beholden to some mythical, unrealistic checklist.

That just seems far too impersonal to me…
