Ten Years Later

I’ve been sat here for half an hour now, flicking through these photos from our trip to Bulgaria, and wondering just how to condense the last Ten Years into a few words. It seems it’s not such an easy thing to do… I guess for a lot of people, they want to shout their love from the highest roof and sing it across the street, but I’ve never really been that sort of person. For me, it’s the most private of things. So how to unfold Ten Years of memories feels like I’m picking up War and Peace and have an hour to skim through – I could hardly do it justice.

So we decided to celebrate our anniversary ( & Helena’s birthday) with a trip to Bulgaria. What a beautiful country. I think you really need around 10-14 days to see it all as traveling domestically can be slow, but in the time we were there we were really struck by the natural (and often juxtaposed) landscapes, the kind people and the plethora of cats. Which as you’re rightly thinking, is the perfect combination. I’d probably also recommend travelling a little earlier/later in the year so it’s cooler, the 30-35 degree heat did slow us down at times.

The anniversary is in mid-June, which as you can imagine is a busy time for a wedding photographer… It’s when I’m already knee deep in editing, with workload increasing, and many more weddings to cover still… but we’ve always put time aside for it. And I guess that’s sort of what I want to get at – no matter where we’ve been in the country (or world), we’ve always made quality time for each other. It can be easy to put other things first in your life; like your job or business, your social life, money, lifestyle… but somewhere along the way you have to find the balance and to see the bigger picture of who and what is most important.

These are just a few memories of our trip, the things we saw. I love taking trips to celebrate occasions… as surely there isn’t a better way to celebrate the best moments in your life, than by making new ones? 🙂
