Zuiko to Sony/Minolta/M42

Olympus Zuiko lenses do offer something a bit different to the world of SLR photography, it is the f2 Zuiko range that I find particularly interesting because of the exceptional balance between optical quality, build quality, physical size/weight, light gathering ability and optical character. Simply put, great quality, fast lenses in a remarkably small package. This is now possible with Sony/Minolta a-mount cameras via a custom made adapter. These are made by hand, made to order, all are slightly different. These are almost always reversible too. Please get in touch for a quote.

NEX Pinhole:

The benefit of having a pinhole lens with a camera like a Sony NEX with such a short flange distance is simple: wide angle. With a conventional SLR you’d be stuck with a focal length around 45mm (if very precise) but more likely around 60-65mm. That can be good, of course great images are possible with any lens, but having the pinhole look with a wide angle brings an entirely different look to your images. With next you get a pinhole that is around 28mm equivalent. These are quite straight forward to make. Please get in touch for details. 

Rokkor to Sony/Minolta/EOS:

I’m a long time Minolta user, so you’ll have to excuse my love for Minolta glass. A beautiful blend of rich, warm colours, delicate contrast and buttery bokeh – this has became synonymous with the word “Minolta”. Technology changes over time, things move on, people move on. The Minolta SR-mount system was abandoned by Minolta in the 1980′s when they made the massive leap towards an auto-focus generation of cameras and lenses. Today, these SR-mount lenses, named “Rokkor” lenses, can be found for very little money. Many of the designs changed only marginally, or not at all, are still used by Sony today in the 16/2.8, 20/2.8, 50/1.4, 500/8 (and others were carried forward by Minolta into the AF line up). These lenses are not compatible with Sony/Minolta/Canon cameras, but for some special custom made adapters can be created. I have and still do use a lot of Minolta glass, it is my personal opinion, or rather my personal preference, that these Rokkor lenses were some of the best Minolta ever produced. In many areas, you will find marginally superior performance in bokeh & colour, which is why many still seek them out today. Popular choices include:

• 35/1.8 MC W.ROKKOR-HH
• 50/1.2 MD
• 58/1.2 MC
• 85/1.7 MC
• 135/2.8 MC

I requested Richard for conversion of a Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 to an EOS mount. He has been very helpful and has done conversion in exceptional manner. He is a true professional in doing such a work. My lens work really fine after conversion on my Canon 1Ds Mark II. I ordered a conversion kit to convert my 58mm/f1.2 to Sony MA mount. The kit is in good shape and works flawlessly. Infinity focus is possible and AF confirm works as well. Completely satisfied with Richard’s service and support.
