Not A Wedding Photographer #004

A sense of humour is so important. Even on a day-to-day basis, when someone is there to shine a positive light on something or make you laugh, it can make all the difference. And you’ll know as well as me, when you share your life with someone, having a sense of humour about the smaller things can be all the more important!

Then comes the actual day of the wedding.

The plans are set in stone and all the hard work is done. Now you’re actually living the day as it happens. But as you’ve put so much thought into it and have all your loved ones alongside you, there are naturally a few parts you’ll be nervous with anticipation about. This is normal part of having an immersive experience on your wedding day; you’re there to genuinely feel things as they happen, in a completely sincerely, unscripted way.

When you really live the experience with this philosophy, you’ll undoubtedly be touched by some moments of genuine humour. And as you’re there, fully experiencing these moments alongside loved ones, the photograph of that experience will only bring you back to those feelings each time you see it.

And when I say moments of genuine humour, that’s what I mean. I’m not talking about running through hoops for a photographer, with a smile on your face, and that being some scripted idea of fun. The kind of routine that has been done a hundred times over.

And I’m not even talking about a face in a crowd; that reaction, the expression. Those are nice when placed thoughtfully within an album and are captured in a considered way, but they don’t take you to what actually happened to make that person laugh or feel how they felt.

Take this image below.

Chrissie is sharing some witty and heartfelt stories of her relationship with Matt, but at the same time there was a smaller moment happening that I photographed below.

Not a typical wedding photo, but one that’ll always make you laugh for all the right reasons.
