That Fun Story About...

The groom's brother was sharing childhood anecdotes about the sort of mischief they used to get up to... and I'm sure if you have a sibling, you'll have your own brand of embarrassing memories. With my sister this was being 'forced' to perform plays and musicals for an audience (our mum & dad), or recording our own radioshow - these were not victim-less crimes! But they can be fun to recall from time-to-time, even if some of the stories make me cringe.

This story involved a hilarious game which involved shooting squirty cream from the top bunk, down to the lower bed, trying to hit the 'target' (each other). Inevitably, accuracy wasn't always perfect...

The photo details the hilarity of this spontaneous re-enactment; as if we are in that room sharing the laughter with everyone else, brushing aside the tears (or cream).

Funnily enough, there is this funny thing about fun at weddings. It might come from wedding magazines, blogs or even other photographers, but so often it seems so routine and conveyor belt. I’m sure you know what I mean; jump here, bouquet in front of face, run chasing a balloon etc, something entirely contrived, duplicated.

I see things differently. So often, it’s the real-life, unscripted, amusing stories along the way that puts the details of your life in context. They’re so nuanced and characterful that they not only take us to that moment in time, but remind us why we love that person specifically, why they always make us laugh, and why they’re always there for us. They’re not just reminding us of a standard photo we’ve seen countless times before. And in my experience these photos are always spontaneous and fun; so I think you’ll agree seems only natural that on your wedding day you’ll want to be free to experience your life, as it happens, in a completely unscripted way.

Don’t be afraid of breaking away from the herd.

I can guarantee you: it’s really quite fun, and will end up meaning more to you now and 10, 20 years down the line.
