Depth

Sometimes I find myself just wanting more when I see a certain type of image.

That unsatisfied feeling.

I see a photo, and I think ‘that’s nice’, but it doesn’t really do enough for me.

Ever have a similar feeling?

I sometimes call them “stock photos”, where it’s just the same location, pose, idea… played over-and-over again, with no authentic meaning.

Those type of images feel a little unintelligent, like they operate only on one level. They make you see how something looked, or at best a simple emotion, but beyond that… they don’t do much else.

Which my clients tell me can be a lot like looking for a photographer for your wedding.

Almost everything can feel like it’s just the same as everything else, falling into the grey.

And it can be exhausting just seeing the same thing over and over again, especially if the image itself felt unsatisfying to begin with.

As the type of photos that really interests me have a certain amount of depth to them. There is an idea inside the photo; a tale to tell, a meeting of minds, a genuine insight, with intertwining layers….

All working in harmony.

Yes! That is what does it for me.

Those are the images that actually stop me and make me think.
